App privacy policy
MILO Smart Remote — Privacy Policy for Version 1.0.0 Prepared October 19, 2026. Effective when this version is released. Developer: Bulkhead Consulting LLC Contact: support@miloremote.com
This policy describes version 1.0.0 of MILO Smart Remote for Android, the first Fire TV release. It does not describe older household apps or development previews.
What the app does
MILO discovers, pairs with and controls a compatible Fire TV or Fire TV Stick on a reachable home network. The Android phone connects directly to the selected Fire TV. No PC, MILO account or developer-operated control server is required.
Data on your phone
The app saves TV names, local network addresses, the paired TV's certificate fingerprint, pairing credentials and remote preferences inside the app's private storage. Pairing credentials and saved room records are encrypted with an Android Keystore-backed AES-GCM key. The release disables app backup and excludes local app data from cloud backup and device transfer. An app or device reset can therefore require pairing again.
Data sent to your Fire TV
The app exchanges discovery and startup messages on your local network. These local discovery/startup protocols are not all encrypted; they do not contain the saved pairing token or typed-search text. After initial on-screen code enrollment, authenticated Fire TV remote commands and typed words use the selected TV's pinned HTTPS connection. Initial enrollment uses the on-screen TV code to authorize the pairing. Use a trusted home network.
You choose which TV to pair with, which remote controls to use and when to send typed words. Typed words are sent only when you choose Send words. MILO does not keep a typed-search history. The Fire TV, streaming apps and services can process received actions or words under their own policies. Their handling is outside Bulkhead Consulting LLC's control.
No voice, advertising or analytics
This release does not request microphone access or launch a speech provider. It includes no advertising, analytics or billing SDK and does not send app usage reports, contact lists, location history or pairing records to Bulkhead Consulting LLC. It does not create a customer account or customer database. Later features that change data handling will require an updated policy and any applicable notices and choices.
Permissions
Internet, network-state and Wi-Fi-state access support communication with the selected device. Wi-Fi multicast access supports local discovery. This release requests no contacts, camera, microphone, location, SMS, accessibility-service or advertising-ID permission.
Retention and deletion
Saved TVs and preferences remain in app storage until removed, the app data is cleared, or the app is uninstalled. Use Connect to remove a saved TV. To erase all local MILO data, open Android Settings, Apps, MILO Smart Remote, Storage, Clear data, or uninstall the app. Removing phone-side data does not revoke a Fire TV authorization or delete records held by Amazon or another streaming service; manage those through the relevant device or service settings.
Support and external links
If you email support, the email address and message you voluntarily send are processed to answer your request. Do not include passwords, pairing tokens or unnecessary personal information. We retain support correspondence only as needed to resolve requests and meet applicable recordkeeping obligations. Opening the public privacy page uses your browser; the hosting service and browser may process normal connection information under their own policies. Google Play handles downloads, installation and store services under Google's policies.
Audience
This is a general-purpose remote-control utility, not a service designed specifically for children. It has no chat, public profiles, user-to-user messaging or developer-hosted content feed.
Security and changes
Encryption and access controls reduce risk but cannot guarantee absolute security. This policy will be updated if the release's data handling changes. Contact support@miloremote.com with privacy or deletion questions concerning support correspondence.
